Cycling From the Old Town to Playa de Palma

Posted: Friday, 15th November 2019

Mallorca cycling is a truly delightful experience if you’re looking to feel the wind on your skin while breathing in the fresh, sea air of Palma. Make a morning, evening or day of it by hiring a bike and cycling from Palma old town to Playa de Palma.

The stunning views of the shoreline cycle path gives even the most novice of cyclists an experience to remember. The ride is easy and flat with different beaches dotting the quaint coastline. On a hot, summer day a dip in the sea and a refreshing cold beverage is a slice of heaven right in Palma.

The final destination, Playa de Palma, is breathtaking with it’s 5km stretch of unruined sand, natural beauty and unique coastal character. The sea and beach vistas are bustling with activity, entertainment, restaurants and kitesurfing, if conditions permit. On the way back to the old town, Mallorca cycling allows you the freedom to stop by Portixol, Ciudad Jardin for a swim and have a drink at one of the many cafes and bars along the ports.

Things to keep in mind:

  1. Summer months are very hot, so bring plenty of water and wear a wide-brim hat and plenty of sunscreen.
  2. Learn the rules of the cycle paths and have a loud bell handy in case a pedestrian wanders in front of your bike.
  3.  If you’re traveling alone, let the hotel staff know where you are going. Perhaps there are other interested cyclists in the hotel who may like to go along.
  4. Leave nothing behind – please respect the land by taking all trash with you. This is what helps to keep Palma beautiful!
