The Beaches of Palma
Palma beaches are shimmering gems of the Mediterranean Sea. Being only a short trip from the airport, Palma makes for a relaxing, intimate, yet vibrant seaside getaway. The beaches dotting the Palma coastline each have their own personalities, but all boast gorgeous views, white sand, and cooling refreshments.
Palma’s own urban beach is a 15-minute stroll from the front of the infamous Gothic cathedral, La Seu. This is one of Palma’s most bustling beaches, so if you’re looking for something more easygoing and restful, there are a few that you will enjoy.
Head East of Palma
The charming little beach of Portixol is beautiful and quaint with its quiet setting and seaside row of restaurants and bars. If you’re looking for a spot away from the city centre, then Portixol may be a Palma beach of choice. Portixol is 3km east of the hustle and bustle and can easily be reached by bike, foot or car.
Playa de Palma is about 10km east from the city centre and is the closest beach to the airport. This popular seaside resort is situated on a long beach and has always been a hotspot for kite surfers and package holidays.
Head West of Palma
Some of the most beautiful beaches of Mallorca are due west of Palma’s city centre in little neighbouring areas called Cala Major and Illetas. Since there is very limited parking here, it’s highly recommended to take a different mode of transport. These beaches are more easily accessible by taking bus number 3 from Placa d’Espanya or a 10-minute taxi ride before stopping off at Illetas.
Palma beaches have much to offer on your holiday trip, whether you’re looking for a more vibrant urban beach or the tranquil seaside of Portixol. If you’re looking for hotels near these beaches, here are some to consider:
